Welcome 57th Northampton

Date: 3rd Dec 2019 Author: Gary Jackson

We are delighted to announce that Sunday 1st December saw the opening of the 57th Northampton Scout Group the latest Group within the Northampton Scouts family.

The 57th Northampton has been set up to predominately to support Young People with special educational needs, they meet fortnightly on Sunday mornings and will be based out of the Mencap facility in Ransome Road, Northampton NN4 8AA.  You won’t miss them with their distinctive high visibility neckers!

Yesterday’s opening saw 8 volunteers and 18 Young People get invested into the Group, initially the group will offer a tailored programme based around Cub Scouts, but will adapt based on each young person’s needs and ability.

Huge thanks go to Claire Baxter, ACC Inclusion for the determination and drive to lead this exciting new project as well as Chloe Simpson and the other volunteers for getting involved and making this happen.  This is a really exciting new provision for our District and will ensure we are able to offer Scouting to many Young People who would not have had the opportunity, or would have struggled, to take part in Scouting

If you wish to find out more about the group then please contact Chloe Simpson, Assistant Group Scout Leader via email
