Our Groups

Northampton District supports several Scout Groups, with a variety of meeting days. The following matrix will help you find the Group that suits your preferred days. Information for each Group can be found following.

Generally, Groups meet during school terms, but this is not a hard-and-fast rule.

4th Northampton (Abington/Christchurch)

Here at the 4th Northampton Scout Group, we believe in teamwork, independence, and learn by doing. These are pillars of the Scouting Values and Method.

Our programmes are firmly rooted in the Challenge Awards of our Sections, which provide a diverse, goal-driven framework for our regular activities and events. Our goal in each Section is for a young person that engages with the programme to achieve Chief Scout’s Award prior to moving on. These form the highest Scouting awards within each Section, and are the culmination of the path set out by the Challenge Awards.

We are located at Christchurch, close to Abington Park.

11th Northampton (Weston Favell)

Weston Favell group owns its headquarters that has a meeting hall, fully functioning kitchen and store/ training room upstairs.

The leadership team work closely together supporting all sections with the development of the spiritual and mental attitude towards scouting.

Every section work towards gaining badges within a challenging, encouraging and fun environment with the main achievement of the young people gaining their Challenge Badges and Chief Scout award appropriate for the section.

We are located in Weston Favell village.

We were formed over 60 years ago. Our programmes are
centred around the Challenge and Activity badges. With the emphasis
on working together and having fun.

23rd Northampton (Headlands)

27th Northampton (St. Albans and Parklands)

27th Northampton (Parklands and St Albans) Scout Group provide exciting opportunities for both and girls aged 4 through to 14.5 in the Parklands, St Albans and Boothville area. We run an exciting and challenging program across 4 sections – Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts – which are enjoyed by the young people and their parents. Activities range from crafts to cooking, visits to camping, outdoors activities include archery, shooting and cooking on real fires. 27th Northampton is also active in the community supporting local charities and providing events for the local community. Moulton Scout Group has been part of the Moulton Village Community based at our own Headquarters in the heart of the Village since 1971. The Group provides Scouting Skills for Life across all Scouting Sections starting with our youngest Squirrel Scouts at 4 through to our Young Leaders becoming Leaders at 18.

The Group welcomes all young people and adults who wish to embark on their Scouting Journey and within the group has a fantastic leader skills network which is passed onto our young people. We are always open for new members to join from 4 years upwards and we look forward to meeting you.

43rd Northampton

The 43rd Northampton Scout Group has been at the heart of the Eastern District since 1974, meeting at Lodge Farm Community Centre. Our Leadership Team work closely together supporting all sections within the Group.

All four of our sections are inclusive & work towards gaining badges & our goal is for all our members is to achieve the sections Chief Scout Awards.

Our programme is varied from traditional activities such as camping, hiking, canoeing to cooking, arts & crafts, IT, sports, games, challenges as well as life skills.

We are a Youth Lead Group where we encourage our members to take responsibility, think for themselves, build their confidence, as well as to make new friends, try new things, have fun, new skills as well as leadership skills.

46th Northampton (Overstone) Scout Group – Scouts believe in preparing young people with skills for life.

We encourage young people to do more, learn more and be more. Each week, we help young people aged 6-14 enjoy fun and adventure while developing the skills they need to succeed, now and in the future. JOIN US!

Let us give you a brief introduction to Scouting and all that we achieve at the 49th Northampton Scout Group, based at Camp Hill Community Centre at Hunsbury Park.

A brief history:

The Cub Scout Pack started in 1980 shortly followed 2 years later by the Scout Troop in February 1982.

Later in the mid-1980’s the Beaver Colony was formed, we now have introduced Squirrel Drey in November 2022.

What’s the set-up?

Here at the 49th we have a great team of Youth Leaders with over a hundred years of voluntary Scouting between us.

We have training schemes for each section, which all have adult support teams. These vary in style depending on the different age groups.

We are a uniformed Movement.

We use “Lodges” “Sixes” and “Patrols” of about 6 young people who work together, learning and supporting each other.

We involve young people in decision making as part of their development.

We set out to provide a wide variety of activities for Squirrels, Beavers, Cub Scouts and Scouts progressing through an award scheme. These activities give them basic skills to take up more adventurous and challenging activities later on.
