As we move into the new term I wanted to share some appointment updates with you all regarding the wider District Team.

Elaine Farr has agreed to take on the role of Deputy District Commissioner (Support).  Within the role Elaine will help lead the day to operation of the District with a focus on providing the necessary support to our volunteers this will include the AAC, Adult Awards, and the ADC Support Network.

District Scout Network Commissioner

18-25 provision is a key part of our District strategy in providing, supporting and developing Young Adults in their Scouting role as well as driving the successful completion of Senior Awards amongst that age group I am therefore delighted that David Hamilton has taken on the role of District Scout Network Commissioner.  David has been supporting this section for some time and I am excited to see how we can further develop the provision in this area.

Assistant District Commissioner Communications

Getting communications right is one of the most important areas for the District to address.  With ever growing ways to communicate with our members and individuals preferences for receiving information changing, getting it rights isn’t an easy task.  Sarah Sheard will join the District team in the role of ADC Communications and help us strengthen our capability in this area.

Assistant District Commissioner Beavers

Due to an increase in his workload, Chris Robinson-Smith has decided to step down from his role as ADC Beavers with immediate effect.  We will therefore start the task of recruiting a new ADC Beavers, I have attached the Vacancy Pack and Nomination form to this email for those that may be interested.

Adult Awards

Following the announcement of changes to the national process for Adult Awards coming up in 2019 we will be setting up a District Awards Advisory Group (DAAG).  We are still waiting on information and guidance from HQ as to how the process will work but Alan Marsh has agreed to lead the DAAG.  More information on this key process will be communicated in early 2019 as we receive it.
